Lindberg Bay

Lindberg Bay Beach (Nathan Gates photo)Lindberg Bay’s greatest virtue is probably that it is almost always crowd-free, especially during the week, though the horseshoe stretch of beach does host two smallish hotels. The downside is its proximity to the airport, where craft take off and land, quite literally, across the road.

Airplane noise notwithstanding, it remains a fine choice for someone looking to escape the crowds at an easy-to-get-to, relaxing place with nice amenities. One can while away an afternoon almost alone, enjoying a good book, a lovely view of the Caribbean and perhaps a cocktail from one of the two beach bars. Fairly limited shade options make this a less than optimal choice for those with small children or sensitivity to the sun. Southern and Western exposure, however, make it a prime location to watch the sun set. It also affords dramatic views of the virginal green hills toward the island’s wilder West End.

  • Adventure Factor: Low.
  • Shade Factor: Medium.
  • Ocean patrol: Lindberg is generally calm but can be rough. There is little snorkeling to speak of, but if you put on a mask and splash around you’re sure to see a fish or two.
  • Food and Drink!: Take your pick of two hotel bar/restaurants.
  • Peace Factor: Medium.
  • Sports: Only what you bring.
  • Extras: There is a public playground for the kids at the west end, just off the beach.
  • Family Factor: Medium.
  • Getting There: Located along Airport Road just off route 30, Lindberg Bay is accessible by car, taxi or public bus. Those taking the dollar-ride will have a short walk ahead of them and should get out at the Airport Road juncture.
