The October Sunday Beach Jam will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16, at Magens Bay Shed No. 4. The 16th will mark the 35th annual October Sunday Festival, now known as the October Sunday Beach Jam. For the last five years, the Friends of October Sunday have partnered with the Family Resource Center, which is presently celebrating its 30th birthday. All the proceeds from the event will go to support Family Resource Center, which is presently trying to raise $130,000 to continue its much needed services, outreach, and counseling for victims of violent crime on St. Thomas.

Sunday’s event will feature seven hours of live music, ranging from steel pan to jazz, classical violin, country, folk and classic rock. Food and drink will be available, including St. Thomas’ biggest birthday cake (donated by Breads and Cakes Bakery). There will be a mocko jumbie and games for the kids. A Pickin’ Parlor Tent will be available for musicians, so bring your instrument. There will be a Flea Market featuring books, CDs, and clothes from CeCe’s Closet, the Family Resource Center’s Second Chance Boutique. Bring donations and shop by the sea.
