VING Celebrates Month of the Military Child With Easter Extravaganza

0

In celebration of April as the “Month of the Child,” the Virgin Islands National Guard will host an Easter Egg Hunt Extravaganza from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, at the Lieutenant Colonel Lionel Jackson Readiness Center in Estate Bethlehem on St. Croix. The 104th Troop Command Family and Youth Readiness event will include egg hunting, Easter baskets, games, prizes, food, music and Jay Jay the Clown.

Military youth face a unique set of challenges. The National Guard Youth Program provides the support and resources they need to cope with military life, and separation from their parents. Children of all ages can be affected at any phase of military life. The Guard has programs designed to help.
The National Guard Youth Development Program serves children and youth ages 6-18 and provides them opportunities to develop their physical, social, emotional and cognitive abilities and to experience achievement, leadership, employment, friendship and recognition. Activities include youth camps, teen leadership retreats youth symposiums, and varied unit and community activities.
VING’s Easter Egg Extravaganza is an event for Army and Air Guard members and their families. Guardsmen are encouraged to make it a family event.
