The West Indian Company, Limited will host A Thanksgiving Musical Celebration with the Virgin Islands’ Finest Musicians, 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at Havensight Mall on the West Indian Company dock.
United Jazz International and Concessions International are co-sponsors of this month’s free community concert.
“We in the Virgin Islands have so much for which to be thankful,” said Joe Boschulte, president and CEO of the West Indian Company Limited. “The West Indian Company invites the public to come together in the true spirit of thanksgiving with grateful hearts to celebrate our individual and collective blessings.”
One of those blessings is a wealth of talented musicians. The UVI Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Joe Francis with Dion Parson, UVI Artist in Residence, will kick off the evening’s entertainment. Jazz Ensemble members are Michael Barr (trumpet), Rayne Chesterfield (trumpet), Urbane Chinnery (trombone), Richard DeCosta (saxophone), Ricaldo Dessout (bass), Benjamin Flenyol (tenor saxophone), Derisa Greaves (trumpet), Oswald Howard (guitar), Wendy Joseph (baritone horn/vocalist), Tyrell Mitcham (trumpet), Damian Montague (alto sax) Shamoi Rodgers (baritone saxophone/trumpet), Gabriel St. Remy (alto sax), Vanessa Tamar (keyboard/flute), Shamiel Vanterpool (tenor saxophone), Arthur Williams Jr. (alto saxophone), Arthur Williams Sr. (tenor saxophone), Darryl Williams (keyboard), Erick Willie (tuba) and Shanee Richards (bass).
Feature performances by perennial favorites Dion Parson (drums), Ron Blake (saxophone), Lorna Freeman (vocals), Roan Creque (piano), and Rueben Rogers (bass), will continue the night’s festive tone.
The Disney Fantasy and Celebrity Eclipse will be in port until 6 p.m. with the Carnival Dream remaining at the West Indian Company dock until 7 p.m. Havensight Mall stores are encouraged to remain open later than usual. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs.
