0

The Board of Directors of the Virgin Islands Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Council (VI DVSAC) has announced that Khnuma Simmonds-Esannason is its new executive director. DVSAC decided that Simmonds-Esannason’s qualifications, education and experience, along with her enthusiasm for the organization’s mission, meets the needs of the agency.
Simmonds-Esannason said, "It is with much pleasure, honor and enthusiasm that I join the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Council (DVSAC) as the new executive director. As a survivor, providing leadership for an organization that aims to mark domestic violence and sexual assault as socially unacceptable is not only a professional desire but a personal and civil obligation as well.
With my extensive background in communications and counseling, it is my desire to contribute to DVSAC’s upward mobility through increased visibility, efficacy and system advocacy – all of which I hope to do through the ongoing, ever growing partnerships with our council organizations. Conclusively, I am most gracious to our former executive director, DVSAC Board of Directors, staff and partners for the warm welcome that has been extended during the transitional period. I certainly look forward to working with all of you and the community to execute our goals, fulfill our mission and pursue the challenge of eliminating acts of domestic violence altogether."
