Students, Parents Asked to Participate in Special Education Post-Secondary Surveys

The State Office of Special Education (SOSE) has been working with 2012 graduates on a survey measuring post high school outcome success rate, and the division’s director is continuing to encourage participants to get the information in as soon as possible, according to a press release issued on Tuesday by the V.I. Department of Education.
The office is in the process of finishing its post-secondary survey of students with Individualized Education Plans that left, exited or graduated from school during the 2010-2011 school year. Students are encouraged to complete the survey and send it in as soon as possible, or call Eddie Parilla at 718-7682 to finish the survey over the phone.
The survey, which has been conducted since 2008, helps SOSE and the V.I. Department of Education to improve transition services for students with disabilities.
“We look to this survey to see if students achieved their post secondary goals and want to hear from our former students on how we might improve our services to them and prepare them for college and career. This data is for our federal reporting in our Annual Performance Report,” State Special Education Director Jill Singer said.
