Several Arrests Made on St. Thomas, All Assault Charges

The V.I. Police Department reported the arrests of three suspects on St. Thomas on unrelated charges of assault during the week of Jan. 11 through 17.

In a news release issued Tuesday, VIPD Public Information Officer Melody Rames said police arrested Daralien Gisha at about 6:45 p.m. Friday. Gisha was charged with third-degree assault/domestic violence. Officers said she assaulted her boyfriend with scissors, causing injuries.

The suspect was held without bail pending court action, according to the V.I. Domestic Violence laws.

In an unrelated case, 30-year-old Neal Orsen Francis Jr. was arrested by police and charged with second-degree assault/domestic violence. Police said on Nov. 29, Francis strangled and beat his girlfriend, causing lacerations on her neck, arms, face and knees.

Francis was arrested about 8 p.m. Jan. 12 and was also was held without bail pending court action, according to the V.I. Domestic Violence laws.

In the third case, a 16-year-old high school student was arrested on St. Thomas just before 3:30 p.m. and charged with third-degree assault.

Officers said the male minor, whose name was not released because he is not yet legally an adult, struck another student with a metal pipe several times in his head, causing injuries.
