WTJX-Channel 12 Presents Series on ‘Earth, A New Wild’

The Virgin Islands Public Television System, WTJX-Channel 12, is promoting “Earth, A New Wild,” which will premiere on WTJX on Feb. 4. This five part series takes a look at humankind’s relationship to the planet’s wildest places and most fascinating species.
The series will be narrated by Dr. M. Sanjayan, a leading conservation scientist. Viewers will discover how humans are involved in every aspect of the planet’s natural systems, and how saving and restoring nature is key to preserving and enriching our future existence. The series takes an in-depth look at the following natural elements: homes, plains, forests, oceans and water.
Also, WTJX is providing an opportunity for students in grades 3rd- 12th to produce his or her own video based on the following criteria.
Video Contest Entry Rules:
•Students must conceptualize what they’ve learned from the series and shoot and compile video footage that depicts scenes of natural elements found in the Virgin Islands;
•Student must be a currently enrolled in a public, private or parochial school in the U.S. Virgin Islands in grades 3rd – 12th;
•The video must not exceed 10 minutes in length;
•Video entries should be submitted on a DVD or jump drive – Quick time movie (.MOV) format or video link e-mailed to [email protected];
•The completed application form must be submitted with each entry (form can be downloaded from www.wtjx.org); and
•The deadline to submit the video entry is 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25,
Each entry will be judged based on creativity, clarity, video content and composition, and must meet all guidelines stated above.
