Ridge to Reef Farm to Have Slow Down Dinner Featuring Chef Jessica Rockstein

0

Ridge to Reef Farm / Virgin Islands Sustainable Farm Institute will host its next Slow Down Dinner on Sunday, Feb. 22, featuring an encore performance by Chef Jessica Rockstein, who "rocked" her first appearance last month. Please RSVP to attend this special on-farm six-course farm food event.
Jessica grew up on St. Thomas in a family of great cooks to whom she owes her obsession with food. She began her cooking career in 1997 at Herban Kitchen, a Soho restaurant at the forefront of the local organic and vegan movements. Since then, she has specialized in creating nutritious meals and desserts made from whole foods and organic farm fresh ingredients in Philadelphia and Florida. Jessica is very excited to be cooking another Slow Down at Ridge to Reef Farm from the incredible bounty of ingredients grown with love on this land.
Reservations and Details:
Enjoy the experience at the farm with multi-course, white plate dinners featuring the farm’s (and a few other local farms) certified organic crops and grass fed livestock and poultry. Between each plating, enjoy brief presentations and stories from the farmers and chefs. Dress is island casual. Those who are interested may arrive at 5:45 p.m. for a sunset farm tour; the dinner seating will be 6:30ish. Seats are limited and are first-come-first served; reservations and confirmations are required.
RSVP or leave a message at 220-0466, and the farm will reply with confirmation. Please make sure your party doesn’t double book because seats are very limited. Cancellations should be made at least 48 hours prior, so Ridge to Reef Farm can contact the waiting list. Make sure to alert us of your party size and if there are any dietary restrictions ahead of time. Produce and dinner reservations are at www.vi.locallygrown.net.
Please bring a love donation of $60-100 per person. Please consider as well a gratuity for the farmer/servers and kitchen staff. If you would like to make a larger, tax deductible contribution for the Farm to School program before the end of the year, please let us know.
Directions to Ridge to Reef Farm from the east, take Mahogany Road (freshly paved) into the rainforest past Norma’s Domino Club and take the second right turn onto 58 (look for Ridge to Reef Farm sign). Follow until reaching top of hill where scenic west connects, and look for the farm sign and metal gate at that intersection. Follow into farm property and descend into Caledonia Valley in 1/2 mile; park at bottom of hill near the solar-powered community center. We recommend driving slowly over speed bumps and taking a higher clearance vehicle if possible, and carpooling as parking is limited with all of the new gardens.
From the west, take Creque Dam Road 58 past Creque Dam and Mount Victory Campground to the top of the road where it connects with the scenic west (approximately 2.7 miles from Sprat Hall). Turn sharp left at farm gate and follow directions above from the gate.
