Alexander Henderson Elementary School students in third to sixth grades voted for their favorite candidates in a mock election Thursday after a well-attended political forum. If St. Croix pre-teens voted, Kenneth Mapp would win for governor and Sen. Alicia "Chucky" Hansen would top Senate votes on St. Croix.
School guidance counselor Ilma Rodgers-Francis reported that a total of 220 students voted, according to a statement from the Education Department. Also 28 students from the Eulalie R. Rivera Elementary School attended the Henderson School political forum and held their own election.

So what does this prove? That you need a third grade mentality to vote for these two?
My thoughts exactly. Mapp has his own jumbies in the closet. This is the level of intellect some of our illustrious politicians target.
You guys should both be ashamed of yourself. These are the children of the world – our future. We have all seen what the intellects of the world have done that have been running everything since pretty much the beginning of time – total destruction to all things, total chaos. The most highly educated among us have caused the chaos, not the rest. It is the fact that this island chose to follow Western culture instead of staying true to their roots that caused all of this. The people here want roots and culture, not the Western world’s lives of contradiction. Review the island’s history to see when all the chaos started, and I just bet you might find that it started after HOVENSA arrived, then all the corruption that came from big money coming to the island. Then the stateside lawyers showed up, because they knew from living in their own country what lawsuits and corruption HOVENSA would bring to the island and the government. So, maybe it’s time to let the children, who aren’t quite as conditioned, materialistic and lost as the adults and who are much more honest and truthful than the adults, lead the world.
Yeah, O.K., Mapp and Chucky. That’s who you should vote for because . . . they’ll SAVE the V.I. The chaos, I have been told by some of the finest elders in the V.I. (non-politically connected) started with the advent of cable TV, gold chains, gang bangin’ and the entitlement attitude that pervades society.
So you blame HOVENSA for all the ills of the V.I.? Years ago, I had to speak at “Career Day” at Addelita Cancryn. The only concern a lot of those kids had was HOW to get a government job and be rich with the least amount of effort. We spoke openly for nearly an hour. I was there to explain a particular career path, the work necessary, college, advanced degrees. They didn’t want to hear it. Too much effort. I don’t blame them whatsoever. I blame the culture. It is dishonest to believe children haven’t somehow been misled that Mapp and Chuckeeeeee are the saviors of the V.I.
All this proves is the children of the Virgin Islands obviously need a better education and courses in ethics, integrity, responsibilty and upholding our laws. Truly a sad commentary on the standards presented by these children. And we have to wonder why our islands have the problems that it does. That’s why!
Well said, you speak the truth. But is anybody listening?
