Dec. 23, 2003 — St. Thomas native Angela McGhee, Ed.D., has been appointed Vice Provost for Student and Academic Affairs at the University of the Virgin Islands. Dr. McGhee will be responsible for setting institutional policy in student affairs. She reports to UVI Provost Dr. Gwen-Marie Moolenaar.
Dr. McGhee spent 24 years in student affairs at Morgan State University in Baltimore, as a professional counselor and chief judicial officer. She says she feels fortunate to have been able to return to the Virgin Islands and hopes to make a difference at UVI.
"I am in the process of orienting myself to the University, to setting some objectives," Dr. McGhee said. "I am very impressed with everything that I have seen so far. I am working very closely with Dr. Moolenaar to look at the direction of the organization for student development and policy compliance."
A graduate of Sts. Peter & Paul High School, Dr. McGhee obtained a bachelor's degree in psychology from Temple University and a master's degree in educational psychology from Atlanta University. She completed a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Urban Education at Temple University.
