EDITH QUETEL BRYAN, 72 HAS DIED

Dec. 11, 2003 — Word has been received of the death of Edith Quetel Bryan, 72, of St. Thomas. She died Dec. 9 at Baptist Hospital in Florida.
Funeral arrangement will be announced by the John Thomas Memorial Chapel and Cremation Services.
Gov. Charles W. Turnbull Wednesday extended his condolences to her family and friends in a release.
"Edith Quetel Bryan ws an avid advocate for many community organizations that dealt with the plight of the homeless, the elderly and those less fortunate. Her energy and commitment to the residents of the Lucinda Millin Home for the Aged was well known and appreciated," the governor said.
Bryan had been a teacher in the V.I. Education Department, following her return to the territory after obtaining her teaching credentials in New York City. She also had been special assistant to former Senate President Iver Stridiron in the 17th Legislature.
