Senator Russell to attend National School Board Association Conference and Exposition
April 2, 2003 – Senator Ronald E. Russell, Chairperson of the Committee on Education and Youth for the 25th Legislature will attend the National School Board Association Conference (NSBA) and Exposition in San Francisco, April 5-8.
The 35th annual NSBA’s conference and expo will feature clinics and workshops that will arm attendees with ways to meet the challenges of education in the 21st century. The conference features in-depth workshops and clinics on various school related topics including the "No Child Left Behind" act.
"I will gather information concerning the structure of school governance in different jurisdictions, as well as information on education reform and details on how various educational boards interact with the community. This conference promises to provide a wealth of information for raising revenues for education and various systems that have been used to promote corporate/ community and non-profit involvement in education," the Senator stated.
"I will be attending the school law seminar along with other major seminars that will deal with school security. I intend to integrate this information into education reform through legislation via community input and outreach," explained Senator Russell.
"When I return to the territory, I look forward to reporting to the people of the Virgin Islands the information I received from this conference and important initiatives I will be implementing as a result of the knowledge gained during this trip" concluded Senator Russell.
