Nov. 24, 2005 One thing several hundred St. Croix residents were not giving thanks for as they tried to finish up some cooking Thanksgiving morning was a consistent power supply.
Cassandra Dunn, spokesperson for Water and Power Authority, said that weather wind, lightning and rain were responsible for the power outages. She said problems were experienced with Feeder No. 1 early in the morning and then Feeder No. 10 later. Most customers probably did not notice the outages because they occurred in the 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. period. However, there were still about 150 customers in the northwest part of the island without power at noon.
Dunn also said the weather had caused a few scattered local outages too. She added, "The crews are out there working in the rain. They are doing a pretty good job of getting everyone back on line."
