March 25, 2002 — If you are looking for wholesome activities for the family over the Easter holidays, hop on out to Coral World. The family-oriented marine park is open all weekend including Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
"Sunday is going to be a fun filled day," said Allegra Kean, the park's marketing manager, in a release. The day's activities will include face painting for the kids and a chance to have your picture taken with tropical birds. Mini Easter baskets filled with candies and other goodies will be given to every child.
Sunday's visitors will also be able to watch Rolex Regatta races. According to regatta event chairman Chuck Ollinger, Coral World will be one of the best land locations for viewing the races as boats pass through the Leeward Passage just beyond Coral World's Undersea Observatory Tower.
Those wishing to take it slow can find a peaceful spot under the shade of the coconut palm courtyard or sit beside the duck pond where two new white-cheeked pintail ducklings are being rehabilitated until they are old enough to fly.
At other exhibits daily fish feedings are scheduled every half hour to 45 minutes, giving visitors a chance to interact with sea life – pet a shark, feed a stingray – and ask questions.
There is plenty of people food, too. Two cafes offer a menu of sandwiches, salads, burgers, pizza, ice cream and a variety of frozen drinks.
From seahorses to sailboats there is something for the whole family at Coral World this Easter.
Local park admission rates are $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 3-12. The park is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The ticket booth closes at 4 p.m.
