FIRST PUBLIC AIRING ON POND BAY TUESDAY

Feb. 25, 2002 – The public will get a chance Tuesday night to weigh in on the V.I. government's draft plan for development at Great Pond Bay, known also as the Camp Arawak property.
For details of the plan so far, see "Great Pond: Park plan gets first airing".
In a release from her office Monday, Delegate Donna Christian Christensen encouraged the public to show up for the first meeting. "The community fought to keep this property for use as a public facility," she said. "It is incumbent on all who want to see the area developed for its best use as a cultural, historical and recreational area to have input in the direction that the plan is taking."
The meeting takes place more than two years after a judge blocked Beal Aerospace's purchase of the 14.5-acre site and ordered the V.I. government to develop a recreational facility there instead. It starts at 6 p.m. at the Territorial Court Jury Room in Kingshill.
