HARBOUR NIGHT WILL FEATURE THE DIGITAL BAND

January 12, 2002 – Wednesday's Harbour Night in downtown Frederiksted will feature food and drink, arts and crafts, music and entertainment. Improved security is promised.
From 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 16, the expected large turnout may sample local food and drink, browse at more than 40 arts and craft booths, and be entertained by performers. The Digital Band will be featured, in support of their new CD "One Family." Jamsie, Dem Boys and Willard John's Moko Jumbies will also perform.
Fund-raising activities of The American Red Cross, Boys & Girls Club, Karamu Afi Dance & Drum Troupe, St. Croix Animal Shelter and the St. Croix Deaf Coalition – all nonprofits – will be on the scene.
Harbour Nights are scheduled on alternate Wednesdays when the Carnival Cruise Line's Victory comes to port, through the end of 2002.
"Vast security improvements have been made for this season's Harbour Nights," said a release from Harbour Night promoter Hugh Dalton. This includes increased police presence and better lighting on Strand Street.
There will be no parking on Strand Street from 5 p.m. to midnight Wednesday, and cars parked after that hour will be towed at the owner's expense, by order of V.I. Police Department.
Presenting sponsors for this Harbour Night are V.I. Tourism Department, Budget Rent-A-Car, Centennial Wireless and Dalton Associates. Nonprofit fund-raising activities are sponsored by Divi Carina Bay Casino, McDonalds / St. Croix, Asset Management, Kapok Management, Lost Dog Saloon and Motown Bar & Restaurant.
For more information call the Harbour Night office at 772-4000.
