There once was a king a very great king,
He is known far and wide for his incredible dream,
Growing up as a boy in a small neighborhood
One day, he realized his life was no good,
Slavery was stopped one hundred years before,
But this king still felt locked up,
There was no key to open the door.
He was Martin Luther King, a truly great king.
He fought through his youth with nothing but despair,
He talked to the government but they didn't care.
He gathered black folks from every region,
Whites joined in too
It was an unstoppable legion,
He was a great king.
They marched and marched, sang songs and spoke their fears,
But their words of wisdom fell on deaf ears.
Then he had an idea,
Another good dream,
His black and white nation would march on to Washington D.C.
They walked and sang for miles without fears,
And even the president broke into tears.
They won the fight, the nation unites,
Laws were passed, no more segregation,
Glory was sung in the whole congregation,
He was a great King,
Then days later he died,
Shot in the head
The nation cried,
We had lost a great KING!
Martin Luther King, Jr.
