DR. SEUSS' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS 2000

"Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas 2000" is the first live-action adaptation of Seuss' beloved tale. There'll be no joy in Whoville while the Grinch is anywhere about. But, we know better.
Seuss's widow, Audrey, was finally persuaded to allow the live film by Producer Brian Grazer and Director Ron Howard. Jim Carrey as the Grinch was the final straw. She loved him. She probably already knew he could be "nasty, troublesome, bad-tempered, unkind, intolerant, utterly irredeemable, foul-smelling and just plain not very nice."
Seuss had objected to a live film, but when his widow realized that new computer technology would keep Seuss' work alive seemingly forever, she capitulated. And, from here on it, it's all green eggs and Christmas turkey, as we say in Tinsletown.
Anthony Hopkins narrates the film and Carrey is backed up by Molly Shannon, Jeffrey Tambor and Verne Troyer.
It is rated PG for some crude humor. (Carrey, after all.)
It starts Thursday at Sunny Isle Theaters.
