7 UVI STUDENTS AWARDED MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS

Tanisha Mills, a sophomore business administration major at the University of the Virgin Islands, was selected to attend the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund's annual Scholars Leadership Institute in New York that began Saturday and runs through Tuesday. Mills is studying at the University of Georgia at Athens as part of the National Student Exchange Program.
In addition to Mills, six other UVI students have received Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund merit scholarships: Bonnie Ayala, a sophomore elementary education major; Astrid Julian, a freshman elementary education major; Leona Oscar, a freshman business administration major; Sean Richardson, a freshman biology major; Marlene Turnbull, a freshman English major; and Heather Waring, a freshman business administration major.
