BUILDING BRIDGES TOGETHER CONFERENCE

"Building Bridges Together," Sen. Lorraine Berry's fifth annual conference, will address male/female relationships on Saturday, Oct. 7, at Marriott's Frenchman's Reef Hotel.
The event will bring together a varied selection of panelists including Judge Ive Swan, Radio One talk show host Sam Topp, Michal Rhymer, director of the Family Resource Center, pastors Troy Schuster and Henry Pascal, and professor Rita Frett-Georges, a guest speaker from Tortola.
"Preliminary meetings with the panelists have been exciting," Berry said. "The conference theme is a provocative topic which touches all our lives. In fact, everyone in a relationship should come to this conference."
Berry has obtained a reduced hotel rate of $99 per person, room only, for persons coming from off-island. Her office must be contacted by Wednesday for hotel reservations. The conference fee is $20, which includes breakfast and lunch. Registration is at 8:15 a.m., breakfast at 9 a.m., and the conference concludes at 4 p.m.
Berry said public housing resident council leaders are handling registrations in their respective areas. Education counselors wishing to attend should contact Irene Williams, Education Department coordinator of pupil services, at (340) 774-4399. Irma Hodge, director of management services for the V.I. Housing Authority, can be contacted at (340) 777-7725.
