The St. Thomas Youth Soccer Association will meet Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Tradewinds Room of the Holiday Inn Windward Passage Hotel. The association is inviting principals, athletic directors, soccer coaches, physical education teachers and other interested persons to discuss soccer activities sponsored by the STTYSA this fall. Each school is strongly encouraged to send a representative.
The meeting will discuss plans and locations for practices, the fall league and the development of youth soccer on St. Thomas. In the fall league this year, there will be three divisions:
– Under 13, students born on or after Sept. 1, 1987 and in sixth grade;
– Under 10, students born on or after Sept. 1, 1990;
– Under 7, students born on or after Sept. 1, 1993 .
Students who are not eligible for the existing divisions (for example, if they were born on or after Sept. 1, 1987, but in seventh grade) will be placed in an the Under 15 League.
All schools are encouraged to get students to form a school team (or teams). If a school cannot field a team, interested players can join the STTYSA team. Girls are also strongly encouraged to come out to practice and be willing to join the school or STTYSA teams.
The fall league will be a developmental one where all players will play regardless of skill.
