The VI Tourism Department is offering local businesses, involved in wedding production, an opportunity to be listed in a brochure called "Getting Married." The brochure, which is produced annually, is distributed nationally and internationally to offshore offices where they are disseminated at bridal trade shows and to anyone who inquires about getting married in the VI. Beverly Drew- Petrus, marketing director for Tourism, said, "We plan to reestablish the Virgin Islands as the number one wedding destination."
The brochures are also distributed through the U.S.V.I.'s toll-free number.
Tourism Department Public Relations Manager Juel M. Anderson said the brochure is the islands "most popular" wedding publication.
All wedding coordinators and planners, charter yacht brokers, florists, photographers, videographers and churches who are interested are asked to submit sales packages including their business name, phone and fax numbers, e-mail and web site addresses to Petrus at P.O. Box 6100, St. Thomas, VI 00804.
There is no charge for a listing in the four-color brochure.
Along with the listings Petrus said the brochure will include information about the VI as a honeymoon destination, legalities of marriage, editorial copy and images of the islands.
Submissions sent by fax or e-mail will not be accepted. Petrus explained that the department wants to see vendors' sales kits so full information about them can be transferred to the brochure.
