MAN ACCUSED OF ASSAULT, VIOLATING COURT ORDER

0

An arraignment hearing is set for Thursday for a St. John man accused of having threatened the mother of his child with a gun.
Territorial Court Judge Brenda Hollar found probable cause to charge Kyle Thomas with third-degree assault and contempt of court Friday for his violation of a previous order to stay away from the unnamed woman.
Police detective Kim Steele testified that the woman filed charges against Thomas after he allegedly threatened her with a gun at her apartment. Steele said Thomas "pointed a gun at the woman's head and told her that he was doing this to show her he has a gun and that he was tired of her messing with him."
The previous restraining order was issued by the Family Court division of Territorial Court after a domestic violence incident between Thomas and the woman.
At the arraignment, Thomas through his attorney will enter a plea to the charges. At the hearing Friday, he was represented by Public Defender Brenda Scales while the government was represented by Assistant Attorney General Renee Gumbs. Thomas remained free on bail.
