The Virgin Islands Department of Tourism is searching for an African-American man between the ages of 18 and 35, to represent the U.S. Virgin Islands for the premier issue of the Ragland Calendar Project.
The call for models will be held between 4 and 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 30 at Sapphire Beach Resort and Marina. Each person should bring a photograph that is a full body shot in swimwear or shorts (no top).
The calendar, scheduled for release in September 2000, will feature African-American men in this 16-month, 34 page full color publication. One lucky Virgin Islands man will make national and international history representing the territory, according to a release from Tourism.
Anthony Ragland, a New York photographer and the man behind the Calendar Project and Tour, said that the project is designed to offer increased awareness of the work and contributions of various charitable organizations. The release did not say which specific organizations would benefit through the calendar project.
