I would once again like to put forward the Randall "Doc" James Racetrack (formerly known as Flamboyant Park) as the site of St Croix's next casino-hotel.
Throughout the United States racetracks, as a result of a drop off in grosses, are moving to diversify their gambling offerings. There has been an effort on the part of various private property holders to put forward one or another parcel. Some of these would be seeking government-supported services in out-of-the-way locations and tax exemptions.
I wish to propose the development of Flamboyant Park on a lease or sale. As a currently government-owned property in an easily accessed location close to services, Flamboyant Park development would benefit Virgin Islanders generally. I would foresee an airport hotel, Olympic pool, racetrack, simulcasting, "Holstein's Casino" benefitting each other by proximity obviating the need for beach access.
