Sen. Gregory A. Bennerson Saturday questioned the nomination of Horace Brooks to the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital Board.
Brooks serves as Gov. Charles W. Turnbull's confidential assistant.
"I question the governor's intention in nominating his special assistant, Mr. Horace Brooks, to the Roy L. Schneider Hospital Board. With the Governor being a member on the board, it is unwise for the nomination to be approved. What happens if Mr. Brooks differ from the Governor? Will he suffer the same fate as Michael Bornn.
"We must depart from politics of the past. Though I strongly believe in the infusion of young people into government service, I believe Mr. Brooks is already serving in a position he qualifies for.
"Potential conflict clearly exist that we can not afford to see continue. This reeks of old style ‘poli-tricks'.
I encourage my fellow colleagues to join with me and reject this nominee." Senator Bennerson concluded.
