Calls are out for contestants for the 1999 "Miss French Heritage"and her Prince and Princesses. Flier s have been distributed throughout the island's schools urging students to participate. Selection of the trio will be held at the French Heritage Pageant at 4:30 p.m. July 4 at the Mahogany Run Clubhouse.
Contestants for the Queen, "Miss French Heritage," must be students of French descent between 15 and 18 years of age, and for the Prince and Princess, students between eight and 12 years. To enter, students should contact Pageant Coordinator Valencia Berry at 774-1530. The winning royal trio will be judged on talent, poise, and casual and evening wear. Senator Lorraine Berry sponsors the pageant with proceeds going to the French Heritage Scholarship fund. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children.
Miss French Heritage and her entourage will rule over French Heritage Week, traditionally held July 8 through 14. Events for the week will include a fishing tournament, with other activities to be announced.
