Aug. 16, 2005 – Nazarine Matthew, known as "Ama," died on Aug. 14, at the Seaview Nursing Home. She was 90 years old.
She is survived by four sons: George, Gilbert "Secan", Gerald and Scott Matthew; and four daughters: Elma Lewis, Seraphine St. Hilaire, Hellen John and Marie Stuart. Other survivors include her sisters, Cecilia Letang and Cresent Fontaine; sons-in-law: Horace Lewis, Gifford St. Hilaire and William John; as well as close friend Matilda Huyghue and family friend Alex Baron. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
