The American Red Cross Disaster Team will conduct modified inspections with the help of Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency on May 11 and 13. The agencies want to make sure the shelters are structurally sound, have adequate refrigeration, alternative power and rest room facilities, before they are certified as emergency shelters.
The Red Cross also announced they will hold an event at 3 p.m. on May 23 to recognize the volunteers who assisted in the Hurricane Georges operation.
