The early childhood conference, "Spotlight on Young Children," will be held on St. Thomas on May 14, 15 and 17 at the University of the Virgin Islands.
The conference is being held by the Department of Human Services' Child Care Development Fund and Head Start programs, the University of the Virgin Islands' University Affiliated Program and the Department of Health's Infant and Toddler Program.
They hope to heighten awareness of developmental issues of younger children in their formative years (birth to 5). Diverse topics will be addressed:
*Effects of substance abuse on the unborn child.
*Creating a language enriched environment.
*Immunizing children
*Working with children with challenging behaviors.
