Governor Charles W. Turnbull has proclaiimed Wednesday, March 31, as Transfer Day in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
March 31, 1999, marks the 82 anniversary of the transfer of the Virgin Islands from Denmark to the United States of America.
Governor Turnbull stated that it is important that every effort be made to maintain and strengthen the bonds of friendship and goodwill between the territory and the people of Denmark. He also called upon the territory to join in this observance and to participate in the activities scheduled for this day.
