Aug. 16, 2006 – Motivational speaker Michael Najarian may be the only male presenter at the 2006 Phenomenal Women Speak Conference to be held Thursday, Aug. 24, through Saturday, Aug.26, on St. Thomas, but his subject – "Are Men Really from Mars?" – promises to be of great interest.
Najarian, host of the nationally syndicated "Mars & Venus" radio talk show, travels the United. States and Europe presenting and expanding on the work of Dr. John Gray, author of "Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus."
The three-day conference, sponsored by the V.I. Tourism Department, the V.I. Commission on the Status of Women and WTJX Public Television, is the one of largest women's conferences ever held in the Virgin Islands. And according to Sonia Boyce, commission chairwoman, it promises to be one of the best.
The conference will broach subjects as diverse as financial strategies, technology and abuse.
"We've gotten a lot of interest from the other islands," Boyce said.
In fact, some of the speakers hail from other islands, including Bermuda's Minister of Finance Paula A. Cox, who will be the speaking at the event's closing dinner on Saturday.
Dr. Zoe Marae, a health intuitive, will speak on Women and Spirituality at a breakfast meeting Friday morning.
Linda Ellis Eastman will talk about the superwoman syndrome at a Thursday session.
Those are only a few of the speakers and panelists participate in the conference, which will be held at Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort.
It is not too late to sign up; costs are $85 per day or $225 for the full conference, which includes three breakfasts and lunches.
