June 28, 2007 – Ackley Media Group recently completed a banner weekend of community broadcasting and event sponsorship as part of its commitment to play a leadership role in promoting positive community broadcasting and information dissemination and plans to do more, according to a press release from AMG General Manager James A. O'Bryan Jr.
For the second consecutive year, it has been the lead communications sponsor and has provided the event T-shirts for the sixth annual Relay For Life, which raised over $200,000 for the premier fundraiser for the St. Thomas/St. John Cancer Society.
"AMG is pleased to continue supporting this very necessary program in view of the increasing number of people requiring cancer treatment and assistance and it was great to see the many segments of our diverse population working together in such a powerful and effective manner," O'Bryan said.
The company co-sponsored The Virgin Islands Carnival Troupe in the D.C. Caribbean Carnival with the Department of Tourism and Sen. Shawn-Michael. It was held last Saturday in Washington, D.C., placing first in two categories: Spirit of Carnival and Large Band of the Year. The troupe's theme was "Rain Don't Stop De Carnival."
They also carried the 2007 Territorial Little League Championships at Whim Ballpark, which in the end was won by a team from each district. The Ackley Media Group stations will be carrying official Emancipation events, including the Sunday horse races from Randall James Race Track and St. John Festival events leading up to July 4th.
