April 23, 2007 – During National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week, which recognizes the many laboratory professionals who play a vital role in health care, Frederiksted Health Care Inc. will celebrate the occasion with activities at its main site, Ingeborg Nesbitt Clinic, No. 516 Strand Street, Frederiksted.
There will be displays of routine lab tests, the history of phlebotomy, pamphlets, tools of the trade and 'point of care' testing; free blood pressure screening will be provided at the Urgent Care Center; information on classes and services for the proper management of diabetics will be provided; and free testing will be given to the first 30 persons arriving for the following scheduled tests:
Monday, April 23: glucose testing
Tuesday, April 24: Cholesterol testing
Wednesday, April 25: urinalysis and HCG (pregnancy) testing
Thursday, April 26: PSA testing
Friday April 27: free daily HIV testing and counseling (confidentiality will be maintained).
Information and discussion about "Your Lab Tests" and a blood drive on Wednesday, April 25, sponsored by the Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center are also planned.
