Sept. 26, 2008 — In late St. Thomas Region action Thursday night at the Lionel Roberts Stadium, the four-time defending champions, the Positive Vibes, endured the early M.I. Roc Masters' competitiveness for a comfortable 7-0 victory.
The Positive Vibes' Keithroy Saddler scored his first hat trick of the season. The other goal scorers were Alexis Saddler, I. Jeffers, C. Mendoza and R. Graham, according to a news release from the USVI Soccer Association.
In the evening's earlier game, the Waitikubuli took advantage of a UWS's defensive blunder for a 1-0 victory. David Sorhaindo scored the lone goal for the winners.
Both games were preceded by a one-minute silence out of respect for the recent passing of Rochester Lewis, who was the coach of the Positive Vibes at the time of his death.
The St. Thomas Region league of the USVI Soccer Association presently consists of nine local teams: Positive Vibes, New Vibes, Laraza, Waitikubuli, UWS, M.I. Roc Masters, Central Link, Haitian Superstars and Raymix. The teams all play each other three times in the league, which runs from mid August until completion of the season. Games are played at the UVI grounds on Sundays and the Lionel Roberts Stadium on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 7 p.m.
