Education Issues Notice of Request for Waiver to Carryover Federal Funds

Aug. 7, 2008 – The Virgin Islands Department of Education is required to issue a Notice of Request for Waiver regarding requests to carry over federal funding. The waiver is a requirement by the U.S. Department of Education, section 9401 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) as amended by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, according to a press release from Education Commissioner Dr. La Verne Terry.
The department hereby informs all applicants under Title V, Part A Consolidated Grant for Insular Areas the following intent:
· To carryover grant funds to support programs under Title V, Part A; and
· To use grant funds under FY (fiscal year) 2008 consolidated grant for Title V, Part A programs.
This waiver is subject to approval by the U.S. Department of Education of the department's intent.
