Police on St. Croix Investigate Allegations Against One of Their Own

July 7, 2008 — Police on St. Croix are investigating allegations of an assault and kidnapping involving a male minor and a police sergeant.
The case is also being investigated by the Internal Affairs Unit. Initial reports indicate that a sergeant was concerned about the contact between the male minor and the sergeant's minor daughter. The sergeant allegedly approached the male minor and took him to the sergeant's home, where it is alleged that he struck the youth one time with a stick.
Acting Police Commissioner Novelle Francis has said the police department's investigation will continue to be fully transparent, according to police Spokeswoman Melody Rames.
"More information will be forthcoming to the public once statements have been taken from all the parties, including the officer in question," Rames said.
