St. George Village Botanical Garden will hold this month's Grow and Learn workshop from 3-5 p.m., Wednesday, March 12, as it celebrates 35 years. It will focus on the history of sugar production at what is now the garden.
St. George was once the site of a prosperous sugar plantation. David Hayes, industrial archaeologist and native-born Crucian, will explain the significance of the factory that was present on the grounds. A tour of the ruins and artifact identification will be included.
There is a small charge for this workshop, with a discount for SGVBG members.
