Friends of Public Library Seeking New Members

0

Jan. 13, 2008 – The Friends of the St. Thomas Public Libraries encourages all residents who are interested in giving back to the community to consider joining FOSTPL. It is a chance to become part of efforts to promote literacy and advocate for the local public libraries. There will be an annual membership meeting held at 6 p.m., on Monday, Jan. 28, in the Sun Room of the Roy L. Schneider Hospital cafeteria. Refreshments will be available.
Volunteers are needed to serve on the board of directors and to participate in children's programs, book collection and redistribution, fund raising, community outreach, the hospital book cart and more.
Visits to Enid M. Baa Public Library on Main Street, Charlotte Amalie, and to the Web site, www.fostpl.org, to obtain more information about the organization are encouraged.
Currently, FOSTPL is monitoring the proposed new library and archive center to be built in the Tutu area. It is advocating that such a center be adequately equipped and staffed with qualified personnel. The active support and participation of the community is needed and requested.
