Jan. 3, 2008 – Dana R. Andrews died on Dec. 24, at his brother's home in Middleburg, Virginia after losing his battle with cancer. Raised in Dracut, Mass., he earned his teaching degree in 1970 from Fitchburg State College. He served in the U. S. Naval Reserve, taught Industrial Arts at Tewksbury High School, Shawsheen Valley Technical High School (Mass.) and was a department head at Pelham High School (N.H.).
Andrews was also the co-owner of the Depot Tavern in Lowell for several years, as well as the Wood Things Toy Company. He moved to St. John to manage the development of the community of Peter Bay and was co-owner of the Inn at Tamarind Court. Andrews married Mary Crehan Lidicker in 1993 and moved to Arden, N.C. in 1994, where he worked as construction site superintendent and project manager for several construction companies. In 2003, they returned to St. John where he worked for Majestic Construction and formed his own business, Dana Concrete Paving & Erosion Control. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed woodworking and antique cars. He was a mentor to many and genuinely offered friendship to all he met.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lidicker; son, Eric Lidicker; brothers: Jack and Bud Andrews; sisters: Evelyn Andrews Bell, Susan Cline and Sarah Andrews. He is also survived by stepmother, Shirley Andrews; and many other relatives too numerous to mention.
Services will be held within a month on St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands and at a later date in York Beach, Maine.
