Nov. 26, 2007 – The Bureau of Internal Revenue has received the 2007 form W-2VIs, and they are available at its offices on all three islands, according to a press release from the Bureau. Employers are reminded to make a written request for W-2VIs and include the employer identification number and the number of W-2VIs requested. The Bureau provides the form needed to request the W-2VIs. The form is available at its offices and on its Web site: www.viirb.com.
"It is unfortunate that we have to require written requests, but the Bureau has received a number of fraudulent W-2VIs within the past several years," Director of the Bureau Gizette Thomas explained.
Thomas reminds all Virgin Islands employers that they are required to provide form W-2VI for employment in 2007 to every employee by Jan. 31, 2008. Questions concerning the form should be directed to Marcella Somersall, federal disclosure officer, at 714-9303.
