George Francis Douté Dead at 71

Oct. 10, 2007 – George Francis Douté was born in Christiansted, St. Croix in the United States Virgin Islands, on March 4, 1936, and died on Sept. 25, in the Bronx, New York. His parents were the late Christian Douté Sr. and Iantha Marie James.
When George came to New York City he was 14 years old. He pursued an interest in photography and print media during his attendance at the New York High School of Printing and Graphic Arts. He also had a passion for aircraft and electronics and made the decision to join the United States Air Force upon graduating from high school. His specialty training was in the area of radar and radio electronics. After an honorable discharge, he returned home and began the process of planning his career path.
George's determination took him to Loral Electronics where he began a long and successful career that spanned many years and positions of creativity and leadership. During his time with Loral, he watched the company develop and evolve through associations with Lockheed-Martin and currently BAE Electronics; he retired in November of 2002 after more than thirty years of service. George's other interests included telling jokes, photography, following aircraft research and design, listening to Caribbean music and adding to his extensive movie and book collections.
The heart and soul of George Douté were his family, friends and community. He is survived by his aunt, Inez Douté; Loreatha Delores Douté; children: Sharon O. Douté-Browne, Wade S. Roberts and wife Twila, Sonya D. Roberts, Jemal L Douté and wife Debra, Rabiah Douté-Bradley and husband Jemal. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Sheryl, Keisha, Porche, Kai, Anthony, Mia, Nathaniel, Nadéshia, Ebonee, Aliyah, Tamia and Esaias; 9 great grandchildren, and siblings: Christian Douté and wife Valerie, John F. Douté, Joanne Cooper and husband Peter, as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
