Sept. 29, 2007 — In a statement this week, Gov. John P. deJongh Jr. announced the nominations of Pablo ONeill to the Public Finance Authority board of directors and Henry Smith to the Economic Development Authority board.
ONeill brings an extensive background to the PFA board. With 43 years of financial, tax, and business management experience in the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, Mr. ONeill is poised to assist in guiding this important body forward, deJongh said in the statement.
ONeill has held high-level on the Banking Board of the Virgin Islands, the Virgin Islands Board of Public Accountancy, St. Croix Foundation for Community Development, Inc., Rotary Club of St. Croix, and the Chamber of Commerce, among many other local groups and organizations. He is a certified public accountant in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Florida and is managing member of ONeill & Associates, LLC Accounting Firm.
Smith is vice provost for research and public service at the St. Thomas campus of the University of the Virgin Islands. He holds a J.D. with a concentration in environmental law and a Ph.D. in civil engineering. With nearly 30 years of senior leadership and management experience in research, public service, and academic administration, Smith is well-qualified to assist in the governance of this important entitys forward progress, deJongh said. Smith replaces Willis Todmann on the EDA board.
