April 17, 2007 – The 4th annual Friends' Beach-to-Beach Power Swim will be held at 8 a.m., on Sunday, April 22, at the north end of Maho Bay Beach near the dinghy channel. The Friends have scheduled the first of three practice swims. This is an opportunity to swim around America Point under the watchful eye of safety kayakers. Cinnamon Bay is the destination and this distance is approximately one mile. There will also be transportation available back to Maho Bay Beach. There is no fee for this event, and all are encouraged to participate in the group swim.
Two other practice swims are scheduled for May 6, starting at Maho Bay and at Trunk Bay, and May 20, starting at Maho Bay and ending at Hawksnest Bay.
Sponsors are: Hawaiian Tropic, Scotia Bank, St. John Insurance Agency, Maho Bay Camps, Alfredo's Landscaping, TOPA Properties, Mongoose Junction and NBC/WVGN TV.
