Nov. 1, 2008 — The Campo Rico pump station force main failed Friday, overflowing manholes and sending storm drainage into the water at the Campo Rico beach.
Children should avoid the Campo Rico beach, especially in the path along the sewage flow. Running water may contain contaminants or pollutants harmful to human health and should be avoided, DPNR said in a press release issued Friday.
DPNR said the lift station is offline, causing nearby manholes to overflow, according to the release.
The storm drain empties into the Campo Rico beach and DPNR officials said they will continue to monitor the impacted area.
