Barefoot Buddha to Hold Whole Earth Festival

Oct. 20, 2008 – The Whole Earth Festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 25-26, at Barefoot Buddha. Barefoot Buddha is about sustainability: meeting the needs of today without compromising the ability to meet the needs of tomorrow. The focus is on recycling, healing arts, agriculture and new energy sources.

Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon: Explore alternative health practices with local healers. Qi Gong, reflexology, yoga therapy, acupuncture, biofeedback, reiki, life coaching and more are offered.
Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon: Learn about community recycling efforts with the Recycling Association of the Virgin Islands through committee members. Learn how to compost with Jason Budsan and Dalma Simon. Sign up for Freecycle and learn how to use this tool to keep reusables out of the landfill. Educate yourself about our St. Thomas Green Map, and get involved with helping to make the island an eco-destination.
Sunday noon to 2 p.m.: Find out about wind and solar systems from local alternative energy consultant Tony Woicekowski and Michael Bumba of Virgin Energies.
