Feb. 5, 2009 – Seaborne Airlines on Feb. 12 will begin its airshuttle service between Cyril E. King Airport on St. Thomas and Henry E. Rohlsen Airport on St. Croix. The airline will offer six flights a day in each direction.
"I'm very encouraged because advance bookings are good," Seaborne President Omer ErSelcuk said.
The 25-minute flights leave Henry E. Rohlsen at 6:30 and 9:30 a.m. as well as 12:30, 3, 5:30, and 6:30 p.m.
They depart Cyril E. King at 7 and 10 a.m., and 1, 1:45, 5:45 and 6:15 p.m.
The evening airshuttle flights will be a boon for passengers who don't get out of meetings in time to make the last seaplane flights, which stop flying once darkness falls.
Additionally, ErSelcuk said the last seaplane flights of the day usually sell out. The airshuttle flights will provide more flexibility for those passengers who can't get a seat on the seaplane. ErSelcuk said the airshuttle flights will enable passengers to get home even when rough conditions prevent the seaplane from flying.
"And we can launch the proper amount of flights out of the airport to serve more groups," he said.
Seaplane passengers with corporate tickets, also called bulk tickets, can use their tickets on the airshuttle flights at no extra charge, ErSelcuk said. Additionally, corporate customers can use those same tickets at no extra charge to fly the airshuttle from Cyril E. King and Henry Rohlsen to Isla Grande Airport in San Juan.
Passengers not flying on corporate tickets will pay a small change fee, ErSelcuk said.
"The corporate customer is the key to the business. They will now get the added convenience of the airport option," ErSelcuk said.
Starting Feb. 17, Seaborne will runs three flights from Cyril E. King and three flights from Henry E. Rohlsen each day to Isla Grande Airport.
Seaborne will add additional airshuttle flights during St. Croix's Agriculture Fair, which begins Feb. 14.
