Feb. 5, 2009 The Virgin Islands Audubon Society will hold its 12th annual plant sale, which will offer plants that have proven growing ability on St. John. The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, on Saturday, March 14, in the Frank Powell Sr. Park, Cruz Bay. There will be a wide variety of plants from local gardens including palms, bay trees, desert roses, agaves, ground covers, orchids and other garden favorites. Audubon caps and tote bags will also be on sale.
The money raised permits the Society to fund activities such as maintaining and improving the Small Pond at Frank Bay, a designated wildlife sanctuary, Earth Day activities held by the Friends of the V.I. National Park, and support education programs for local children.
Those who have plants to donate can drop them off at the park in Cruz Bay on the day of the sale, between 8 and 9 a.m. For further information, contact Jean Cottrell at 776-6090.
