Feb. 1, 2009 – Lorraine Petersen Spencer died on Dec. 27. Born on May 24, 1942 on St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, she moved to Jacksonville, Florida from New York in the late 90s. Lorraine graduated from NYU School of Nursing, and worked as a nurse for NYU Medical Center for 39 years. While residing in New York, she joined St. Paul's Lutheran Church in 1981. She volunteered for the church and was a choir member.
She is survived by her mother, Edna Thomas Petersen; husband, Andy Spencer; son Anthony Lang; brothers: Lawrence, Delroy and Claude; and sisters: Jeanette, Florette, Marion and Cedelle. She was preceded in death by her father, Pierpont, and sisters, Deloise and Sheryl.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at the Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Fla. A funeral service followed at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 31, at the Hardage-Giddens Mandarin Chapel. Interment took place at Oaklawn Cemetery, Jacksonville.
Arrangements were under the direction of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home.
